Grizzly Bear – Sleeping Ute

After a three-year-long state of inactivity and metabolic depression, left-of-field folkster group Grizzly Bear has shaken the mildew from their haunches and announced the release of their upcoming album. The Brooklyn-based band’s last effort, Veckatimest, garnered laud from the likes of Jay-Z and The Wall Street Journal, but since 2009, Grizzly fans have had to survive on a winter’s store of older tunes, a Washington State Lottery’s TV ad in 2010, and singer/songwriter/guitarist Daniel Rossen’s solo album Silent Hour/Golden Mile last March.

While a title and other details are yet to be revealed, the band has released “Sleeping Ute,” the first song off the new album in anticipation of the September 18th release via Warp Records as well as notice of their upcoming worldwide tour (that will include stops at Radio City Music Hall in NYC and Paris’s Pitchfork Music Festival). Despite the three-year slumber and soporific title, “Sleeping Ute” is charged with rousing drum riffs and psychedelic cymbal clashes that we can hardly wait to wake up to in the morning.
