Well, if you are a fan of gut punching post hardcore rock with an equal amount of harmonic tenderness and spine tingling passion, then you will no doubt be aware that the rock behemoth that is Alexisonfire have released tickets for their farewell tour this morning, and, if you are said fan you will be either air punching with sheer delight at grabbing the opportunity to catch the guys bow out or holding your head in your hands lamenting the missed opportunity of being there to witness it.
Either way, Friday is dedicated you guys, as well as the poor tragic few who haven't heard the 'best thing that Canada has ever graced us with'.
Friday is Alexisonfire day, and to celebrate such an occasion, open up your spotify and get your listening apparatus around their 2005 eponymous debut long player.
Alexisonfire were/are a five piece from Ontario, Canada. Who after forming in 2001 went on to produce four albums of utter perfection in the post hardcore genre. They seamlessly mixed epic riffs, melodic vocals and a bone crunching thumping rhythm section all topped off with the best howls and yowls heard this side of a slasher movie, yet still moved the soul with the passion contained within.
This perfection lasted 10 years, gaining fans worldwide, seeing festival crowds slayed and venues roof's blown off (metaphorically speaking of course). Alas, all good things come to and end and in 2011 it was announced due to musical differences and the departure of guitarists/vocalists Dallas Green and Wade MacNeil, who went on to extend their respective side projects of City And Colour and Black Lungs, that the band would be no more. This broke a few hearts and killed many rock loving souls.
But now they are BACK! One final tour to say thank you to a loyal worldwide fan base is on the horizon, kicking off in London at the Brixton Academy on the 3rd of December, the big bow out will see 9 dates fulfilled. ALEXISONFIRE - farewell tour
It's gunna be BIG!
