AltSounds: I see you've suddenly smashed onto the scene with 'Cashpoint Drama', not a fan of people hovering too close whilst checking your balance?
Janee: No not at all LOL. Someone heavy breathing and tutting whilst youre doing your thing! Basically that track came about from a real life situation. I was running late and had to stop at a cashpoint quickly before heading to the studio with Bless Beats. When I finally got to the studio and told Bless the situation he said I should write a song about it. Random I know.
AltSounds: It's such a breath of fresh air to hear something lighthearted and different, what else can we expect from JinJin and the Ragdolls?
Janee: Well the next track is called 'Whistle At Me.' Its summery and fun and tongue in cheek. Light hearted again; one of the lyrics is "all the boys whistle at me". It's basically about me walking down the street and instead of shying away and felling intimidated if a person or group of people make comments (good or bad), just to find the confidence and no matter what take it as a compliment.
AltSounds: Oh sounds rather cheeky indeed! If you weren't making tunes, what would you be doing?
Janee: POIROT!!!! haha I would like to try being a detective or something random. I'll try anything once.
AltSounds: Haha be careful admiting stuff like that, just in case! I see you tweeted that you went to school with one of the hockey players who play for team GB at the Olympics, did you get into it or were you not fussed about it all?
Janee: Yep I went to school with Kate Walsh but she was in one of the years above me. I actually really got into the Olympics. Whilst at school I wasnt sporty at all, totally wasn't into it apart from trampolining a bit because I got to mess about with my mates.
AltSounds: Kate Walsh was immense, especially coming back on after an operation to fix a broken face! What did you think of the music in the opening ceremony?
Janee: Didn't hear much of it as I was at Notting Hill Arts Club waiting to go onto perform at Rock The Belles!!! That was the first Jinjin & The Ragdolls show and I absolutely loved it. Wicked night. Went to The Box in Soho afterwards..... mad crazy night.
AltSounds: Sounds like a lot of fun! Have you got any festival appearances coming soon or a tour maybe?
Janee: Supporting Mikill Pane on tour end of September and also supporting MAXSTA during September too.
AltSounds: Can we expect a JinJin and the Ragdolls album soon?
Janee: Yep most definitely. It's called Rhythm Homicide and its executive produced by Bless Beats.
AltSounds: Oh, can't wait to hear it! If you could compare yourself to another songstress, who would you choose and why?
Janee: Would be EXAMPLE... not really a songstress though [laughs].
AltSounds: What's the craziest thing that's happened at one of your gigs?
Janee: During a runway show, not a music show my boob fell out and I didn't realise until someone in the audience brought it to my attention [laughs], that was so embaressing.
AltSounds: AMAZING! What a class story! So,what inspires you to write music?
Janee: Everyday life and hanging out with friends chatting about stuff.
AltSounds: If you could learn to speak a brand new languge in the space of 24 minutes, what would it be an why?
Janee: Swahili [laughs] because it sounds cool to say "hey man i can speak Swahili."
AltSounds: Pretty random one to end there haha, thanks for taking the time out to answer these questions for us!
