The Men aren't much for elaboration. Their two previous albums were named Leave Home and Open Your Heart, and now here's "Electric", the plainly-titled lead single from New Moon, their third LP in less than three years. One of the Men's many strengths is an awareness of the elemental, and that much is conveyed by "Electric," which further streamlines the classic rock ambitions of Open Your Heart for something nearing pop-punk. It comes off like an homage to the intoxicant effect of rock itself, a power that goes beyond words and drives people to buy guitars at 14 and keep plugging in for the rest of their lives. You can't fake the visceral joy of "Electric"-- it's the kind of effortlessness you only get from supernatural talents who worked their ass off.
