An important figure in Chicago's juke and footwork scene who played a crucial role in bringing the Chicago style of dance music to a global audience, Rashad Harden, better known as DJ Rashad, has died. He was 35 years old. As reported by The Chicago Sun-Times, Rashad was found unresponsive at his apartment in Chicago's West Side Saturday afternoon by a friend and that the cause of death is a suspected drug overdose as narcotics and drug paraphernalia were found near his body. An autopsy is currently being conducted. His career spanned numerous tracks and a handful of albums including last year's excellent Hyperdub release Double Cup. DJ Rashad's new EP We On 1 will be released next week.
