Hot on the heels of her highly-infectious debut “Fever…

Hot on the heels of her highly-infectious debut “Fever Boy”, + her N. American tour announcement (supporting Charli XCX alongside Elliphant), FEMME returns with a new alt.pop gem titled “High”, the new single from the British artist, due out in North America this October.

Described as “a one-woman powerhouse” by Annie Mac, FEMME is a one-stop shop of creativity – writing, recording, mixing, producing & performing all of her tracks herself, + directing, producing & editing all of her own music videos. Taking inspiration from icons like M.I.A., Cindy Sherman + Debbie Harry, it’s FEMME’s combination of attitude, style &, above all, incredible tunes that makes her the perfect art-pop package that she is. Nowhere is this more in evidence than on “High”.

The catchy new track finds the fiesty avant-pop enthusiast at her best. Playful one minute, soulful the next, it mixes catchy keys into her trademark mix of beats & bass, with irresistible results.

Her debut album is scheduled for release in Spring 2015, be sure to catch her live on the road in N. America this fall (flyer above).

LA-based conceptual pop group YACHT, comprised of Jona Bechtolt…

LA-based conceptual pop group YACHT, comprised of Jona Bechtolt + Claire L. Evans, is back with new music & news of their signing to Downtown Records. In a surprise gift to fans, YACHT have released their first new material since January’s “Plastic Soul” single, with new gem “Where Does This Disco?” arriving alongside a sparkling remix courtesy of Jerome LOL.

Where Does This Disco? ✖ buy

Fans can purchase the songs in a “special editioned object” throughout YACHT’s upcoming N. American tour with Burger Records’ White Fang, which includes 2 sold-out New York dates & kicks off this weekend in Denver. The duo explain the story behind the track:

“Where Does This Disco? is about love and compact discs. They’re both on the edge of becoming obsolete, and they both get scratched if you play them too hard. They’re both mirrors, but one is still the best medium we have for connecting with each other.

Where Does This Disco? is our first release on Downtown Records. It’s also the namesake for our upcoming North American tour, during which a special editioned object containing this song will be available for purchase. The remix is by the wildly talented Jerome LOL, one-half of DJ Dodger Stadium, and wholly from the Internet.”

The Acid have dropped a deep yet euphoric rework of “Fame,” this time from Lovers Anonymous. Not much is revealed about Lovers Anonymous other than it’s a newly formed collaboration between an established artist & his/her lover. The Acid have spent the summer touring Europe + Australia to snowballing applause & are gearing up to bring their live 4-piece home to the US. Following a series of dates with alt-J, the band have just announced a headline show in Los Angeles at Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever on October 22nd.

The Acid’s debut full length Liminal is out now via Mute in the US. Play the whole thing now on Soundcloud.

The Acid came together from 3 separate worlds, joining together through a profound synchronicity. They are globe trotting, Grammy nominated DJ & Producer Adam Freeland, creator of subversive crossover hit “We Want Your Soul”, spearhead of a scene + label boss of Brighton’s Marine Parade Records; Californian Polymath Steve Nalepa, whose time is split as a producer, composer, professor of music technology; & Australian, LA based artist + producer Ry X, whose Berlin EP was released in late 2013 to softly bubbling acclaim, and who, with his other alter ego as one half of Howling, created an eponymous club smash & toured heavily through 2013’s festival circuit.

The sound they’ve created together is truly genre-less, a term used with increasing frequency but never quite so well suited as to them. The guitar, at times three or four of them layered together, seamlessly blends in amongst bass shudders, beat pulses & elongated drones as Ry’s vocals beatify then rage amidst delicate synth lines & pitched down field recordings of street noise, birds, the clacking of bicycle spokes & the creaking of a leather jacket. The Acid weren’t even sure what they were composing at first, as Ry describes, “It’s like painting before you know what you are painting. You’re stuck in the process before you’ve got an idea of what you’re making. The beauty of that is complete freedom.”
